The story is that the island was named "Kangaroo Island" by Matthew Flinders to commemorate the fact that his hungry sailors feasted on kangaroo meat when they first landed on the Island. You will definitely see kangaroos (of various kinds) on the Island, but you'll meet many other animals as well. Here is a preview.
